2 Men Transporting Cattle Lynched By Mob In Chhattisgarh: Cops

In a shocking incident, two men transporting cattle were brutally lynched by a mob in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. The victims, identified as 35-year-old Mohammed Sadiq and 25-year-old Mohammed Alam, were from the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the victims were transporting 14 cattle heads from Chhattisgarh to their home state. As they were passing through the village of Kotpad, a group of villagers stopped their vehicle and accused them of stealing the animals.

The mob allegedly attacked the victims with sticks and stones, killing Sadiq on the spot. Alam was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital. The cattle heads were also taken away by the mob.

The news of the lynching has sent shockwaves across the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has strongly condemned the incident and ordered a thorough investigation. The police have registered a case of murder and rioting and are actively investigating the matter.

“We are conducting raids and questioning suspects,” said Kanker Superintendent of Police, Santosh Singh. “The perpetrators will be brought to justice swiftly.”

Local residents have expressed outrage over the incident and demanded strict action against the perpetrators. Some villagers have also come forward with information that could aid the police investigation.

The incident has once again highlighted the rising incidents of mob violence in the country. Activists have expressed concern over the impunity with which such heinous crimes are committed.
