Mumbai: Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday claimed that two Members of Parliament (MPs) from former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s camp are in touch with rebel leader Eknath Shinde.

Raut, a close aide of Thackeray, made this allegation during a press conference in Mumbai. He said that the MPs, whose names he did not disclose, have been “secretly” communicating with Shinde and his supporters.

“We have information that two MPs from our side are in touch with Shinde and his group. They are holding meetings and discussing plans,” Raut said.

He added that the Shiv Sena leadership is closely monitoring the situation and will take appropriate action if any party member engages in “anti-party activities.”

The Shiv Sena has been plagued by internal divisions for several months now. In June, Shinde and a group of MLAs rebelled against Thackeray’s leadership, leading to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

Shinde has since been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Thackeray, on the other hand, has been challenging Shinde’s claim to the party leadership and has vowed to fight for the control of the Shiv Sena.

The allegations made by Raut could further escalate the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra. It remains to be seen how the Shiv Sena and the rebel group will respond to these claims and what impact they will have on the future of the party.
