A Message for Bihar: Bharat Ratna for Karpoori Thakur, Ministerial Berth for Son

Patna: The demand for Bharat Ratna for former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur has once again gained momentum. His son, Ramswaroop Thakur, who is currently an independent MLA, has also demanded a ministerial berth for himself in the Nitish Kumar government.

Karpoori Thakur was a popular leader in Bihar and is fondly remembered for his pro-poor policies and his commitment to social justice. He served as the Chief Minister of Bihar from 1977 to 1979 and again from 1989 to 1990.

Over the years, there have been several demands to confer Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India, on Karpoori Thakur. However, these demands have not been met. Ramswaroop Thakur has now revived this demand, saying that it is time to honor his father’s legacy.

“My father dedicated his life to the service of the people of Bihar. He fought for the rights of the poor and marginalized sections of society. He deserves the highest recognition for his contributions,” said Ramswaroop Thakur.

Apart from the Bharat Ratna demand, Ramswaroop Thakur has also sought a ministerial berth for himself in the Nitish Kumar government. He said that he has supported the government from outside and now deserves to be included in the cabinet.

“I have always supported the government and have never created any trouble. I believe that I can contribute to the development of Bihar as a minister,” said Ramswaroop Thakur.

It remains to be seen whether the government will meet the demands of Ramswaroop Thakur. However, the resurgence of the Bharat Ratna demand for Karpoori Thakur is a reminder of his enduring legacy and the respect he continues to enjoy among the people of Bihar.
