## Two Ships Catch Fire After Missile Strikes Off Yemen’s Aden

Aden, Yemen – Two ships caught fire after being hit by suspected missile strikes off the coast of Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Sunday, according to Yemeni officials.

The attacks, which occurred in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, targeted an oil tanker and a vessel carrying construction materials, Yemeni army spokesman Brigadier General Abdul Baset Bahran said.

The oil tanker, identified as the “Dharma”, is a Korean-flagged vessel that was carrying 30,000 tons of crude oil from Saudi Arabia to Djibouti. The construction materials vessel, identified as the “Rowdah”, is a Yemeni-owned vessel that was carrying cement.

Both ships were left engulfed in flames after the attacks, and their crews were evacuated. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The Houthi rebels, who control much of northern Yemen, have claimed responsibility for the strikes, saying they were in retaliation for Saudi-led airstrikes on Yemen.

The attacks come amid heightened tensions in the region, as the Yemen conflict continues to escalate. The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting the Houthis since 2015, in an attempt to restore the internationally recognized government of President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The attacks also raise concerns about the safety of shipping in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which is a vital waterway for global trade.
