Blaming V.K. Pandian for BJD’s Loss in 2024 Elections Unfortunate, Says Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar: Opposing Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s remarks that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lost the 2024 elections due to the resignation of V.K. Pandian as state party chief, party supremo Naveen Patnaik has termed the allegations as unfortunate.

“It is unfortunate that people are blaming V.K. Pandian for the party’s loss in the 2024 elections,” Patnaik said in a statement on Friday.

“Pandian has always been a loyal and dedicated member of the BJD, and he has worked tirelessly for the party’s success,” he added.

Patnaik’s statement comes in response to a recent statement by BJD MLA Prasant Jagdev, who alleged that Pandian’s resignation as state party chief led to the party’s defeat in the elections.

Jagdev had said that Pandian had not been able to provide strong leadership to the party, and that his resignation had caused a lot of damage to the BJD’s image.

However, Patnaik has rejected these allegations, saying that Jagdev’s remarks are “baseless and unfounded”.

“Pandian has done nothing wrong, and it is unfair to blame him for the party’s loss in the elections,” Patnaik said.

Patnaik’s statement is likely to put an end to the speculation that Pandian was responsible for the BJD’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
