Carlsen, the reigning world chess champion, dominated the men’s section, scoring 6.5/9 and finishing half a point ahead of second-placed Anish Giri. The Norwegian star started the tournament strongly, winning three of his first four games. He then drew four consecutive games before securing a crucial victory against Giri in the penultimate round.

“It feels good to win this tournament again,” said Carlsen. “I played some good chess, and I’m happy with my overall performance.”

In the women’s section, Ju Wenjun, the current women’s world champion, proved too strong for her opponents, winning with a score of 6/9. She started the tournament with a bang, winning three of her first four games. She then drew four games in a row before claiming victory in the last round against Aleksandra Goryachkina.

“I’m very happy to win Norway Chess,” said Ju Wenjun. “It’s a prestigious tournament, and I’m proud of my performance.”

The Norway Chess tournament is one of the strongest chess events in the world, attracting top players from around the globe. This year’s tournament featured 18 players in the men’s section and 10 players in the women’s section.

The tournament was also notable for the return of chess legend Viswanathan Anand, who finished third in the men’s section. The 52-year-old Indian star showed that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
