Chhaya Kadam Opens Up About ‘Disappointment’ on ‘Jhund’ Sets, Recalls Amitabh Bachchan’s Support

Actress Chhaya Kadam, who played the role of Neetu in Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Jhund’, has shared her experience working on the sets of the film. In a recent interview, Kadam revealed that she was initially disappointed with her role in the film.

“When I got the call for ‘Jhund’, I was very excited. I had heard such great things about Nagraj Manjule and his work. But when I got the script, I was disappointed. My role was not as substantial as I had hoped,” Kadam said.

However, Kadam credited Amitabh Bachchan, who played the lead role in ‘Jhund’, for helping her to feel more comfortable on the sets.

“Amitabh Bachchan is a legend. He’s still a macho man, but he’s also very kind and supportive,” Kadam said. “He took me under his wing and helped me to understand my character. He told me to just relax and be myself.”

Kadam also praised Manjule’s filmmaking, calling him a “master storyteller.”

“Nagraj Manjule is a genius. He has a unique way of capturing the human spirit,” Kadam said. “Jhund’ is a special film that will stay with me long after I’ve finished working on it.”

‘Jhund’ is based on the true story of Vijay Barse, a former sports teacher who started a football team for underprivileged children in Nagpur. The film was released in March 2022 and received critical acclaim.
