Cop Who Hit BJP MP Kangana Ranaut Belongs to Family of Farmers

In a surprising twist to the recent incident where a police officer allegedly hit BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, it has emerged that the officer belongs to a family of farmers.

The cop, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gawai, is a resident of Sangli district in Maharashtra. His family has been farming for generations. Sources close to Gawai’s family said that they were shocked and dismayed by the allegations against him.

“Gawai is a hardworking and dedicated police officer. We are proud of his service to the nation,” said one of his relatives.

The incident occurred on October 22 when Ranaut was at the Bandra office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). She was reportedly there to file a complaint against a purported illegal construction. While addressing the media outside the office, she was allegedly hit by Gawai.

BMC subsequently suspended Gawai pending an investigation. The MP has accused him of assaulting her and filed a complaint with the police.

However, Gawai has denied the allegations, claiming that he had only tried to prevent Ranaut from obstructing the official work of the BMC.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Meanwhile, the revelation that Gawai belongs to a farming family has sparked discussions about the challenges faced by police officers from rural backgrounds.

Experts have pointed out that police personnel from farming communities often face discrimination and bias within the force. They are often assigned to less desirable postings and may be subjected to prejudices against their rural backgrounds.

The case of Gawai has shed light on this issue and has raised questions about the need for greater inclusion and diversity within police forces.
