Mumbai: NCP leader Ajit Pawar has stated that he declined the offer of Minister with Independent Charge. Pawar, a former deputy chief minister, said that it “didn’t feel right” to take on an additional responsibility at this time.

According to sources, the NCP had offered Pawar the post of Minister with Independent Charge for the Water Resources Department. However, Pawar expressed his reservations about assuming the role.

“I believe that I can make a greater contribution to the state by focusing on my current responsibilities,” Pawar said in a statement. “I am grateful for the offer, but I have decided to turn it down.”

The NCP is the junior partner in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, along with the Shiv Sena and the Congress. The party currently holds 12 cabinet positions in the state government.

Pawar’s decision to decline the offer of Minister with Independent Charge has raised eyebrows within political circles. Some believe that he may have been uncomfortable with the additional workload, while others speculate that it could be a sign of growing discontent within the NCP.

The NCP is currently facing internal turmoil, with some senior leaders expressing dissatisfaction over the party’s handling of the government. Pawar’s decision to reject the offer of Minister with Independent Charge could be seen as a reflection of this growing dissent.

However, Pawar has denied any political motivations behind his decision. He has reaffirmed his commitment to the NCP and the MVA government.

“I am fully committed to the NCP and the Maha Vikas Aghadi government,” Pawar said. “I will continue to work hard to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Maharashtra.”
