Fadnavis Firm on Resignation, Close Aide May Replace Him

Mumbai, Maharashtra – Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and current Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reiterated his decision to resign from his post. The resignation, which is expected to take effect on Wednesday, July 13, comes amidst ongoing political turmoil in the state.

Sources close to Fadnavis have indicated that his close aide, Eknath Shinde, is a potential replacement for the DCM position. Shinde is currently the Minister for Urban Development and Public Works in the Maharashtra government.

Fadnavis’ decision to resign is seen as a strategic move to defuse the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra. The state has been witnessing a power struggle between the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Fadnavis.

The BJP has been alleging that the MVA government has failed to deliver on its promises and has lost the confidence of the people. The party has also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Thackeray.

Meanwhile, the MVA coalition has accused the BJP of trying to destabilize the government and impose President’s Rule in Maharashtra. The coalition partners, including the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Congress, have reaffirmed their support for Chief Minister Thackeray.

The resignation of Fadnavis is expected to trigger a series of political developments in Maharashtra. The BJP is likely to intensify its efforts to form a new government in the state, while the MVA coalition will try to stay united and prevent defections.
