Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – Five people, including two children, lost their lives in a tragic house fire in the Loni area of Ghaziabad on Monday.

According to officials, the blaze erupted around 2 am in a residential building in the Sanjay Nagar colony. Firefighters rushed to the scene and fought the flames for several hours before bringing it under control.

Inside the charred remains of the house, firefighters discovered the bodies of five individuals: a 50-year-old man, two women aged 45 and 24, and two children aged 10 and 6.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit. However, the exact cause is still under investigation.

The victims have been identified as the family members of one of the deceased women. The father, a daily wage laborer, had been sleeping on the ground floor while his wife and children were on the first floor.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the accident.

The fire department has issued a safety advisory, urging residents to ensure proper electrical wiring and maintenance in their homes and to have smoke detectors installed for early warning in case of fires.
