‘He is very happy and thanks everyone for support’: Amritpal Singh’s parents after meeting MP

Amritpal Singh’s parents met with Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday and expressed their gratitude for the support they have received from the community.

“He is very happy and thanks everyone for their support,” said his mother, Baljit Kaur.

Singh, 25, was shot and killed by police on Tuesday in Brampton, Ontario. He was wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man in Surrey, B.C., last month.

His parents said they are still trying to come to terms with his death.

“We are still in shock,” said his father, Manjit Singh. “We can’t believe he is gone.”

They said they are grateful for the support they have received from the community.

“We have received so many messages of support from people all over the world,” said Baljit Kaur. “We are very thankful for that.”

Mann said he offered his condolences to Singh’s parents and assured them that he would do everything he could to help them.

“I told them that I am here to support them in any way that I can,” said Mann. “I will continue to work to ensure that justice is served in this case.”
