Ahead of the highly anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2023, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has thrown down the gauntlet to Indian star Suryakumar Yadav.

Yadav, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC T20I batting rankings, has been in scintillating form in recent months. However, Akmal believes that Yadav’s true test will come when he faces Pakistan.

“If he is No. 1, come and score against Pakistan,” Akmal said in a recent interview. “We have some world-class bowlers who will put him to the test.”

Akmal went on to suggest that Pakistan’s bowling attack is capable of nullifying Yadav’s threat.

“Our bowlers like Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan have the pace and skill to challenge him. We have plans in place to counter his strengths,” Akmal added.

Yadav has amassed over 2,400 runs in T20Is, including 16 half-centuries and three centuries. He is known for his exceptional strokeplay and ability to rotate the strike.

The clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on October 23 in Melbourne. The match is expected to draw a massive crowd and is likely to be one of the most closely contested matches of the tournament.

Akmal’s challenge adds another layer of intrigue to the highly anticipated encounter. It remains to be seen whether Yadav will be able to live up to his billing and silence his critics when he faces the Pakistan bowling lineup.
