INDIA Bloc MPs to Protest “Misuse” of Probe Agencies in Parliament Today: AAP

The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, is gearing up for a high-stakes protest in Parliament today, aiming to highlight the alleged “misuse” of investigative agencies by the ruling government. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a key member of the bloc, has announced their participation in the demonstration, claiming the government is using agencies like the CBI and ED to intimidate and silence political opponents.

“This isn’t just about one party or one individual,” declared AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a press conference yesterday. “It’s about the very foundation of democracy being eroded. We are seeing a blatant pattern of using investigative agencies to target anyone who dares to speak against the government.”

Kejriwal’s statement comes in the wake of several high-profile cases involving politicians and activists being investigated by the CBI and ED, often leading to accusations of politically motivated actions. The AAP, which has been targeted itself in recent years, has been vocal in condemning this trend.

A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals a concerning increase in cases involving politicians being investigated by the CBI and ED. The report, analyzing data from the past five years, highlights a significant rise in the number of cases filed against opposition leaders, while the number of cases filed against ruling party members remains relatively low.

This disparity, according to the ADR, raises serious concerns about the potential for misuse of these agencies to silence dissent and influence elections.

The INDIA bloc’s protest today is expected to involve a walkout during the Question Hour in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, followed by a joint press conference to amplify their concerns. The bloc is also planning to raise the issue through various parliamentary motions during the session.

“The people of India deserve a fair and transparent system, not one where the ruling party can use agencies to harass their critics,” emphasized a senior INDIA bloc leader. “This protest is a step towards restoring the integrity of our institutions and ensuring a level playing field for all.”

The upcoming session of Parliament promises to be a tense one, with the INDIA bloc determined to push back against what they perceive as an attack on democratic principles. The protest today is just the beginning of their efforts to raise awareness and demand accountability from the government.
