INDIA Bloc Offered PM Post To Nitish Kumar: JDU Leader’s Explosive Claim

Keywords: Nitish Kumar, INDIA Bloc, Prime Minister, JDU

New Delhi: In a bombshell revelation, a senior leader of the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) has claimed that the INDIA Bloc, a loose coalition of regional parties, offered the post of Prime Minister to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to JDU’s state general secretary Anil Kumar, the offer was made by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray during a meeting in Mumbai in 2017.

“During the meeting, Raj Thackeray proposed Nitish Kumar’s name for the post of Prime Minister, saying that he was the best candidate to lead the country. Nitish Kumar politely declined the offer, citing his commitment to Bihar,” Kumar told reporters.

The claim, if true, could significantly alter the narrative surrounding the 2019 elections. The INDIA Bloc, which included parties such as the DMK, TMC, AAP, and others, was seen as a potential challenger to the BJP-led NDA.

However, it failed to pose a serious threat to the ruling alliance and the BJP ultimately won a second term in power.

The revelation has reignited speculation about Nitish Kumar’s ambitions beyond Bihar. The JDU chief has emerged as a key figure in opposition politics and has been seen as a potential consensus candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.

Nitish Kumar has not yet commented on the claim made by the JDU leader.
