India’s Mangalyaan: A Triumph in Space Exploration

India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also known as Mangalyaan, is a historic milestone in the country’s space exploration endeavors. Launched on November 5, 2013, it successfully entered the Martian orbit on September 24, 2014, making India the fourth spacefaring nation to reach the Red Planet.

Mangalyaan operated successfully for over eight years beyond its planned six-month mission life. It provided valuable data on the Martian environment, including the discovery of significant amounts of methane in the atmosphere, which could indicate the presence of active geological or biological processes.
