JDU Says INDIA Bloc Offered PM Post To Nitish Kumar; Opposition Responds

Patna, Bihar – The Janata Dal (United) (JDU), a member of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has claimed that the recently formed “INDIA” bloc offered the post of Prime Minister to its leader, Nitish Kumar.

INDIA Bloc Proposal

According to JDU spokesperson, K.C. Tyagi, representatives from the INDIA bloc, comprising the Indian National Congress (INC), the Trinamool Congress (TMC), and others, met with Kumar and proposed that he become the coalition’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Nitish Kumar’s Response

Kumar reportedly declined the offer, stating that he is committed to the NDA and its leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized his belief in Modi’s vision for India and the need for a stable and united government.

Opposition Reaction

The Opposition has responded with skepticism to the JDU’s claims. Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh, dismissed the proposal as “nothing but a publicity stunt” aimed at creating confusion within the NDA.

Political Implications

Observers believe that the INDIA bloc’s offer to Kumar is an attempt to undermine the NDA and present a credible alternative to Modi. If Kumar were to accept, it would pose a significant challenge to the BJP’s dominance in the national political landscape.

However, Kumar’s decision to decline the offer suggests that the NDA remains cohesive and that Modi’s leadership is not under immediate threat.
