JK Admin Sets June 20 Deadline for Completion of Works in Amarnath Base Camp

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has set June 20, 2023, as the deadline for the completion of all works in the Amarnath base camp in Pahalgam.

Key Milestones:

Road Connectivity: The widening and blacktopping of the 44-kilometer Pahalgam-Chandanwari road is underway and should be completed by May 31.
Water Supply: The installation of a 21-kilometer-long water pipeline from Panjtarni to the base camp is expected to be finished by June 15.
Accommodation: Plans are in place to construct 3,500 additional pre-fabricated huts and 4,000 tents for pilgrims.
Sanitation: The base camp will be equipped with 120 portable toilets, with additional units being added as needed.
Medical Facilities: A 50-bed hospital with oxygen facilities and a mobile medical unit will be set up for emergency care.

Other Improvements:

Enhancement of the communication network
Installation of CCTV cameras for security
Development of parking spaces for vehicles

Pilgrimage Season:

The Amarnath Yatra is expected to commence on June 28 and conclude on August 8. The administration is aiming to provide a safe and comfortable experience for the lakhs of pilgrims who visit the holy shrine of Amarnath.

Statement by Lieutenant Governor:

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the timely completion of the works will ensure a hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees. He also emphasized the need for coordination among all stakeholders involved in the preparation process.
