Mumbai: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable Kulwinder Kaur was arrested on Tuesday, January 31, in connection with the alleged slapping of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut at the Mumbai airport on October 1.

Kaur was booked under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident occurred on October 1, 2022, when Ranaut was exiting the Mumbai airport after returning from her hometown, Manali. According to the actress, Kaur slapped her in the face.

Following the incident, Ranaut filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police. The police registered a case against Kaur and initiated an investigation.

On Tuesday, Kaur was arrested by the CISF and produced before a local court. The court sent her to judicial custody for 14 days.

Meanwhile, singer Vishal Dadlani has expressed his support for Ranaut. In a tweet, Dadlani said, “I stand with Kangana Ranaut. I will ensure that she has the best possible legal representation.”

The CISF has stated that it will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The force has also taken steps to sensitize its personnel about the importance of professional conduct.
