New Delhi, May 30: Narendra Modi was sworn in as India’s Prime Minister for a third term on Thursday, leading a new government that includes a mix of familiar allies and new faces.

Key Points:

Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a landslide victory in the recent general elections, winning 303 seats in the 545-member Lok Sabha.
The new Cabinet includes 24 members who served in Modi’s previous government, including Amit Shah (Home Minister), Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance Minister), and S. Jaishankar (External Affairs Minister).
Some new additions include Smriti Irani (Women and Child Development Minister) and Jyotiraditya Scindia (Civil Aviation Minister), both of whom joined the BJP from other parties.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), a coalition led by the BJP, also includes the Shiv Sena, the Janata Dal (United), and the Lok Janshakti Party.
The oath ceremony was held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, with President Ram Nath Kovind administering the oath of office to Modi and his Cabinet.

Challenges and Outlook:

Modi’s third term is likely to be marked by a number of challenges, including economic slowdown, unemployment, and social unrest. The new government’s agenda is expected to focus on economic reforms, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs.

Analysts say that Modi’s strong mandate gives him the opportunity to implement bold policies and pursue his vision for India. However, they also caution that he will need to address the concerns of the opposition and build consensus to tackle the country’s challenges.
