Mumbai Rain: City Witnesses Waterlogging, IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Mumbai, India – The financial capital of India, Mumbai, experienced heavy rainfall on Monday, leading to waterlogging in several areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for the city, indicating that more rain is likely over the next 24 hours.

The IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in different parts of Mumbai, with isolated heavy falls possible. The rainfall has already caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, including Hindmata, Sion, Chembur, and Bandra.

The rain has disrupted traffic and public transport services in the city. Several suburban railway services have been affected, and some routes have been partially or fully suspended. Motorists have been advised to avoid waterlogged areas.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed teams to clear the waterlogging and ensure that the city’s drainage system functions properly. The civic body has also urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unless necessary.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea as strong winds and high waves are expected. The weather agency has also warned of isolated thunderstorm activity, lightning, and gusty winds.

The heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next few days, and the IMD has advised the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
