New Delhi, May 30, 2024: Narendra Modi today took oath as India’s Prime Minister for a third consecutive term in a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Modi, who led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a landslide victory in the recently concluded general elections.

Modi, 72, became the first Prime Minister to return to power with an absolute majority for a third term. His victory is seen as a testament to his popularity and the BJP’s effective governance over the past eight years.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, former President Ram Nath Kovind, and several other former Prime Ministers. Foreign leaders from neighboring countries and key global partners were also present.

In his address after the ceremony, Modi reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the Indian people. He pledged to focus on inclusive growth, job creation, and national security.

“We will work tirelessly to build a strong and prosperous India, where every citizen has equal opportunities and a better quality of life,” Modi said.

Modi’s new cabinet includes a mix of experienced ministers and fresh faces. Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Piyush Goyal are among the senior ministers who have been retained.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 392 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, securing a comfortable majority. The Congress-led opposition alliance, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), won only 110 seats.

Modi’s third term will be crucial in shaping India’s future. The country faces several challenges, including high unemployment, inflation, and rising geopolitical tensions. Modi will need to navigate these challenges effectively to ensure India’s continued economic growth and global leadership.
