Article:

At the NDA meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Opposition’s allegations against electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Modi said, “The moment the EVM results started coming, the phone calls started.” He insinuated that the Opposition was panicking over the impending electoral loss, hence their unfounded claims of EVM manipulation.

The Prime Minister further emphasized the independence and integrity of India’s electoral system. He asserted that all political parties have equal opportunities to participate in elections and that the results reflect the genuine will of the people.

Modi’s statement elicited a strong response from the Opposition, who accused him of undermining the democratic process. Several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, reiterated their concerns about EVM tampering.

The EVM debate has been a contentious issue in recent elections, with the Opposition alleging that the machines are prone to manipulation and that the government is exploiting them to rig the results. However, there has been no concrete evidence to support these claims.

The Election Commission of India has repeatedly maintained that EVMs are secure and tamper-proof. It has invited political parties to inspect and challenge the machines, but no irregularities have been found.

Modi’s remarks at the NDA meeting indicate that the ruling party is confident in the integrity of the electoral system and that it will not be swayed by baseless allegations.
