Neerabh Kumar Prasad has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, effective February 1, 2023. He will succeed the incumbent Chief Secretary, Aditya Nath Das, who is set to retire on January 31, 2023.

Prasad is a 1990-batch IAS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue (Disaster Management) Department in the state government. He has also held various other senior positions in the state administration, including Principal Secretary of the Finance Department and Commissioner of Land Revenue.

Prasad is known for his administrative acumen and his expertise in revenue and disaster management. He is expected to play a key role in implementing the state government’s policies and programs, particularly in the wake of the recent natural disasters that have affected Andhra Pradesh.

The appointment of Prasad as Chief Secretary will also mark the return of an Andhra Pradesh cadre officer to the top post in the state administration after a gap of several years. In recent years, the post of Chief Secretary has been held by officers from other states, including Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
