No Information: Congress Denies Nitish Kumar Party Leader’s “Offer” Claim

New Delhi: The Indian National Congress (INC) has denied claims made by a leader of Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) party that the Congress had offered to form a government in Bihar.

JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar had alleged that the Congress had offered to join hands with the JD(U) to form a government in Bihar, which the JD(U) declined. However, the Congress has strongly denied these claims.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala stated that there was “no truth whatsoever” to the allegations. He clarified that the Congress had not made any such offer to the JD(U).

“The Congress party has no role to play in the formation of a government in Bihar. Our focus is on strengthening our own party and working for the people of Bihar,” Surjewala said.

The JD(U), which has been led by Nitish Kumar since 2015, is currently an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. The Congress is the principal opposition party in Bihar.

The denial by the Congress comes amid ongoing political uncertainty in Bihar, where the JD(U) recently broke away from the Grand Alliance, which also included the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress.

The JD(U) then formed a new government with the support of the BJP. However, the RJD and the Congress have both rejected the new government and have called for fresh elections in the state.
