Not someone who runs away’: Devendra Fadnavis says will continue as Maha deputy CM

Mumbai, April 15 (IANS): Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and current Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said he will continue in his post despite “efforts by some sections” to portray him as an outsider in the state.

“I am not someone who runs away from challenges. I will continue as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra,” Fadnavis told reporters here.

His statement came amid speculation that he may resign from his post following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) defeat in the recently concluded Mumbai civic polls.

Fadnavis said he has been working for the development of Maharashtra for the past 20 years and will continue to do so.

“I am not interested in personal attacks or allegations. I am focused on my work,” he said.

Fadnavis also took a dig at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, saying it has failed to deliver on its promises.

“The MVA government has been in power for over two years now but it has failed to fulfill its promises. The people of Maharashtra are suffering,” he said.

Fadnavis said the BJP will continue to fight for the rights of the people of Maharashtra.

“We will not allow the MVA government to destroy the state,” he said.
