Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has pledged unconditional support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the upcoming BJP-led government. However, Kumar has made it clear that he had a specific wish for the new administration.

Addressing a press conference, Kumar stated, “We will support the BJP government at the Centre without any conditions. However, we request the government to pay attention to the development of Bihar.”

Kumar’s stance has been dubbed ‘Paltu Ram’ by critics, a reference to a mythological character known for his frequent changes in loyalty. Despite his support for Modi, Kumar has been vocal in his criticism of certain BJP policies in the past.

The Bihar CM has repeatedly emphasized the need for adequate financial assistance from the Centre to expedite the development of his state. He has also raised concerns about the Centre’s reluctance to grant special category status to Bihar.

Sources within the BJP have indicated that the party is willing to engage with Kumar and address his concerns. However, they have also cautioned that the Centre’s priorities may not align entirely with Kumar’s wishes.

The BJP has emerged as the largest party in the recent Lok Sabha elections, and it is expected to lead a coalition government at the Centre. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has been a key ally of the BJP in Bihar, and it is likely to continue playing a significant role in the new government.
