Mumbai, India: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly filed an unofficial complaint regarding the pitch conditions at the New York pitch after two Indian cricketers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, faced injury concerns during net sessions.

Sharma, India’s captain, sustained a minor hamstring injury during a net session on Saturday. Kohli, India’s former captain, also experienced some trouble with his batting during the same session, reportedly due to the uneven pitch conditions.

According to sources, the pitch was too hard and bouncy, which made it difficult for the batsmen to adapt. The BCCI is concerned that the pitch, which is scheduled to host India’s warm-up T20 match against Australia on October 13, could pose a risk to players.

The unofficial complaint was reportedly filed with the International Cricket Council (ICC), which is responsible for overseeing the pitch and match conditions at the T20 World Cup 2023. The BCCI wants the ICC to take immediate action to improve the pitch conditions or find an alternative venue.

“The pitch was too hard and bouncy. It was difficult to bat on. We are concerned about the risk of injuries to our players,” said a BCCI official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The BCCI is awaiting a response from the ICC regarding its complaint. The T20 World Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin on October 16, and India is considered one of the favorites to win the tournament.
