Sandy Hook Survivors To Graduate High School

Newton, CT – Ten years after the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, survivors of the massacre are preparing to graduate high school.

On December 14, 2012, a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook. The survivors, now seniors at Newtown High School, have faced countless challenges in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Resilience and Hope

Despite the trauma they experienced, the survivors have shown incredible resilience and determination. They have supported each other through counseling, therapy, and community events.

“We have grown up with this experience, but it doesn’t define us,” said survivor Noah Pozner. “We are graduating high school as strong, independent individuals.”

Education as Empowerment

Survivors credit education with empowering them to heal and move forward. They have excelled academically and participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities.

“Education has given us purpose and direction,” said survivor Jackie Hockley. “It has helped us to find meaning in our lives after Sandy Hook.”

“This is a day we never thought we would see,” said parent Nicole Hockley. “We are so proud of everything our children have accomplished.”

“We want to make a positive impact on the world,” said survivor Erica Lafferty. “We want to help others who have experienced trauma.”
