The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has informed the Bombay High Court that the bones and other remains recovered during the investigation of the Sheena Bora murder case are not traceable. The agency stated that the remains, which were crucial evidence in the case, are missing and their whereabouts are unknown.

The development has emerged as a major setback for the CBI’s prosecution of the case. The bones, believed to belong to Sheena Bora, were recovered from a forest in Raigad district in 2015. The DNA analysis of these remains had played a crucial role in establishing the identity of the victim and connecting the accused, Indrani Mukerjea and Peter Mukerjea, to the crime.

The CBI has not provided any explanation for the missing remains. The revelation has raised questions about the security of crucial evidence in the case and the thoroughness of the investigation. The defense team is expected to use this development to their advantage, arguing that the missing remains cast doubt on the credibility of the prosecution’s case.

The Sheena Bora murder case has been a high-profile case in India since 2015. Indrani Mukerjea, the former media executive, is accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora in April 2012. Her ex-husband Peter Mukerjea and her former driver Shyamvar Rai are also accused of involvement in the crime. The case has been marred by multiple twists and turns, including allegations of conspiracy and political influence.

The Bombay High Court is now expected to schedule a hearing to investigate the matter further and determine how the remains went missing. This development is likely to further delay the already protracted trial and create a new layer of complexity in the already intricate case.
