New Delhi, July 7, 2021: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Ram Mohan Naidu took oath as the youngest minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s newly expanded Cabinet on Wednesday.

Naidu, 36, is a three-time Lok Sabha MP from Srikakulam constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of former TDP MP Daggubati Purandeswari and nephew of actor-turned-politician Venkatesh Daggubati.

Known for his articulate speeches and grasp of public issues, Naidu has been vocal in raising concerns related to agriculture, education, and youth empowerment.

In the Modi 3.0 Cabinet, Naidu has been assigned the portfolio of Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports. He will be working under Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Naidu’s appointment marks a significant achievement for the TDP, which had previously joined forces with the BJP in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). However, the party withdrew from the alliance in 2018 over the issue of special status for Andhra Pradesh.

His swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by senior TDP leaders, including party president N. Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.T. Rama Rao Jr.

The inclusion of Ram Mohan Naidu in the Modi 3.0 Cabinet has been widely praised as a positive step towards bringing fresh perspectives and representing the aspirations of the younger generation.
