Bayeux, France – In a touching ceremony filled with love and history, a 100-year-old World War II veteran, Raymond Dupuis, married his 96-year-old fiancee, Marie Cressent, in Bayeux, France, on Saturday.

Dupuis, who served in the French army during the war, met Cressent in October 2022 at a nursing home in Alsace, eastern France. They quickly fell in love and decided to spend the rest of their lives together.

Despite their advanced age, the couple’s wedding was filled with joy and excitement. Dupuis, dressed in a navy suit, and Cressent, in a white lace gown, exchanged vows in front of a small group of family and friends at the town hall in Bayeux.

“It’s a dream come true,” said Dupuis. “I never thought I would find love again at my age.”

Cressent, who was widowed in 2016, said she was “overjoyed” to marry Dupuis. “He’s such a kind and loving man,” she said. “I’m so lucky to have found him.”

The couple’s wedding was a reminder of the enduring power of love, even in the face of adversity. Dupuis fought bravely in the war, and Cressent lost her husband to illness. But despite the challenges they have faced, they have found happiness together in their later years.

The mayor of Bayeux, Patrick Gomont, who officiated the ceremony, said he was “honored” to witness the couple’s marriage. “It’s a beautiful story that shows that love knows no age limit,” he said.

The couple’s wedding was celebrated with a reception at the nursing home where they met. They danced, laughed, and shared their stories with their loved ones.

Dupuis and Cressent are now enjoying their honeymoon in Bayeux, where they plan to visit the historic tapestry and other sights. They are also looking forward to spending more time together and traveling to new places.
