In the third ODI of the series, Pakistan failed to chase down a modest target of 305 set by the USA. After tieing the regulation game, Pakistan lost the Super Over by 6 wickets, handing the Americans a historic victory.

Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to express his disappointment with Babar Azam’s captaincy. He wrote, “Babar Azam’s captaincy blunder has cost Pakistan dearly. Not going for the kill when you have the momentum is a cardinal sin.”

Singh went on to say that Pakistan should have bowled a spinner in the Super Over instead of pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain. “Why would you bowl a medium pacer in the Super Over against a team that has no experience against pace?” he questioned.

Babur Azam’s decision-making was also criticized by other former players, including Shoaib Akhtar and Rashid Latif.

Pakistan’s defeat to the USA marks a new low for the team, which is currently ranked ninth in the ICC ODI rankings. Babar Azam’s captaincy has come under scrutiny following a string of poor results, including a 3-0 Test whitewash against England.

The series between Pakistan and the USA is scheduled to conclude on July 13 with the fourth ODI. It remains to be seen whether Babar Azam will make any changes to his approach in a bid to salvage the series.
